John 7:37 In the
last day, that great day of the
feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me,
and drink. 38 He that believeth on me,
as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit,
which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet
glorified.)
The blessed,
indwelling, powerful Holy Spirit fills the believer to overflowing. He fills
us, not only for our benefit, but for the good of others and for a closer
relationship with Him.
His fruit
(singular) is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, temperance.
You will notice,
the first three parts of this fruit are for the personal benefit of the
believer, the 2nd triumvirate is for blessing others and the last part, for augmenting
our walk with God.
All of our
relationships, inward, outward and upward, are enhanced and empowered by the Holy
Ghost.
There are those
who cannot stand themselves, others are rather put off by them, and, I would
imagine the Lord would like to avoid them also! What these people need is a
good dose of the Holy Spirit. It is hard to resist a Spirit-filled believer.
They find favor with God, others and themselves.
Is the living
water flowing from your core or are you sending forth bitter waters born of
self-powered living?
Empty yourself
of you today and ask the Lord for the filling of His Spirit. It will make all
the difference in the world.
