No Man is an Island

Rom 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

It was John Donne (1572-1631), a believer, who in his sickness wrote the following;

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

How intertwined our lives truly are! What does that say then about our testimonies? Not only are we being watched by others, but we are affecting them in our actions, by our words, even with our attitudes.

It is said that, on average, each of us has a strong influence on the lives of nine other people! Let's influence these people who are looking to us for Christ.
