Pro 15:1 A soft
answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Oh, how the
flesh rises up within us to fire back at one who has pushed one of our buttons!
If we are
offended or put off by someone's inconsiderate statements, or if our apple cart
is upset by someone elses stated agenda, we are quick to retort with our own
barbs. Soon there is an escalation of words and we are down each others
throats and ready to go to fisticuffs.
Bathsheba's wise
words to Solomon would serve us well from day to day. Answer softly and kindly
and diffuse an ugly situation.
A few hints:
*Think before we
talk.
*Take a breath.
*Be filled with
the Holy Spirit.
*Choose our
words wisely.
*Act, don't
react.
*Be the bigger
Christian.
*Be the better
man.
*Make peace, not
strife.
For blessed are
the peacemakers.
Rom 12:20 Therefore
if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing
thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
