Pray and Praise!

Jas 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

This may come across as pretty simplistic, but then again, why would we want to make things difficult?

It seems most of us go from one pole to the other repeatedly, over and over again, déjà vu, time and again. We are either suffering affliction or we are doing pretty well, thank you. James gives us a simple admonishment for our visits to each pole. When we are down, pray, when we are up, praise!

Not that these two are mutually exclusive, oh no! There is nothing wrong with mixing it up a bit. It is great to praise God while at the South Pole and to pray while visiting the North. It is just so very therapeutic, as well as appropriate, to bring our afflictions to the Lord and to praise Him for His blessings.

So today, my emphasis is on singing, tomorrow, prayer may be the thing to do. Better yet, I believe I'll do both.
