Romans 1:21 Because
that, when they knew God, they glorified him
not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and
their foolish heart was darkened. 22
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible
God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted
beasts, and creeping things. 24
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of
their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and
worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for
ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile
affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is
against nature: 27 And likewise also the
men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward
another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in
themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God
in their knowledge, God gave
them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness,
fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder,
debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of
evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers,
without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they
which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have
pleasure in them that do them.
Chevrolet, Coca-Cola and the NFL, American icons. But change
is in the air as perfumed pink clouds shroud the horizon. It has been a huge week
for purveyors of alternative life styles.
Chevrolet unveiled two new commercials supportive of the “new
love” and the “new us” portraying gay couples.
Coke’s Super Bowl ad “It’s Beautiful” depicts a same-sex
couple roller skating with their daughter during a montage of diverse language
singing “America.”
Today’s big news announces a University of Missouri defender
coming out of the closet declaring, not only for the draft, but that he is
indeed a football player, an African-American and an openly gay man, possibly
the first player headed to the NFL to do so.
That announcement comes on the heels of AG Eric Holder’s
speech this weekend granting major sweeping support of gay marriage in all
states, benefits for same sex couples, allowing them to plead the 5th
so as to not incriminate their partners, etc.
This week is a pot of gold at the end of the same-sex
rainbow.
I see a time coming where opposition to the gay wave sweeping
our nation will cause preachers and supporters of righteousness to be overwhelmed
by the diversity tsunami. Mark my words, a biblical stand on this issue is
going to be illegal in the near future. Persecution is on its way and we need
to decide whether we will go with the flow or proclaim God’s truth.
Having stated that, believers must continue to reach out to
people of all races and persuasions, in love, with the liberating truth of the
gospel. I do, however, grieve over the future when I think of the damaged country
we are handing over to our kids and grandchildren.
Personally, I see this wave as a slight against what is
pure, right, good and wholesome. When it comes right down to the generative
dynamic, it is an affront to God. Scripture is clear, man is not to lie carnally
with man as with a woman. This is clear in both the old and new testaments of
God’s Word, which describes homosexuality as reprobate, unseemly (improper) and
unnatural.
Let me be quick to say that all sex outside of biblical
marriage is sin. Fornication is the catchall descriptor for illegitimate sex.
Sexual sin is not only impure, emotionally and sometimes physically damaging to
others and offensive to God, but is a sin against a person’s own flesh.
The NFL, Coke and Chevy...Wow! I am guarding my hotdogs and apple pie.
Never-the-less the gay wave is crashing onto our shores, let’s
seek high ground.
