Vs 9 - We are in
the Spirit and He in us. We have the Spirit and are therefore, God's
Vs 10 - The
Spirit is life because of righteousness
Vs 11 - The
Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, quickens us, for the Spirit dwells in
us
Vs 13 - Through
the Spirit we do mortify the deeds of the body that we might live
Vs 14 - We are
led by the Spirit
Vs 15 - We have
received the Spirit of adoption, causing us to cry, Abba, Father
Vs 16 - The Spirit
bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God
Vs 23 - We have
the firstfruits of the Spirit
Vs 26 - The
Spirit helps our infirmities, the Spirit makes intercession for us
Vs 27 - The mind
of the Spirit is made know to Jesus on our behalf
I have said
repeatedly that the Holy Spirit is the part of the Godhead of which we have the
most dealings. When Christ ascended, the Spirit descended to indwell the
believer. He is hard at work on our behalf on a moment by moment basis.
In this chapter,
I am amazed by the tremendous amount of ministry which takes place by the
Spirit of God in our lives.
He is the
"pneuma" or the breath of God which fills our spiritual sails. He
quickens us or gives us life. He relays personal information about us to Jesus
the Intercessor so that He may pray to the Father on our behalf.
He frees us,
causes us to have the proper thoughts, secures us in our relationship with God,
leads us, and bears witness within our spirit.
Having strived
to walk after the Spirit these past few decades, I cannot imagine the void in
my life if the Spirit were absent. However, we have the promise of God that,
now, there is nothing that can separate us from God's love. He has assured us
that He would never leave us nor forsake us. His Spirit has sealed us until the
day of Christ and will indwell us from the moment of salvation until we are
safe in Heaven.
