The Potter and the Clay

Rom 9:20  Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

God is ultimately sovereign. Mankind was formed from clay, all from the same lump. Some will end up being honorable vessels, some, not so much.

Dug from the ground, placed on a table, water added, kneaded, thrown on a wheel, spun, baked, painted, glazed and baked again. Such a difficult process, such varied possibilities.

Bread bowls, drink cups, jewelry boxes, spittoons, chamber pots, cracked pots, all fashioned from the same material.

Our part is to yield ourselves to the touch of the Master's mighty and artful hands. The same clay that is softened by water can be hardened by the sun.

Will you, merely clay, yield yourself today to the Potter to be made into a vessel of honor? Don't fight the process, but work with the Master.
