"But I Grew Up in Church!"

Luke 3:7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

As the people came out into the wilderness to hear this camel hair clad locust eating preacher and be baptized by him, he told them to repent. Then he headed off their claim to religious pedigree by saying, "Don't even start with all that 'I grew up in an observant family' stuff."

You can't get to heaven on grandma's apron strings. Second hand faith will not gain you entrance into the pearly gates. Religious heritage does not insure a personal relationship with Christ. It doesn't matter how many times you have been baptized or how many times you recieved the award for perfect Sunday school attendance.

Are you trusting your church background to get you to heaven? Or have you knelt at the foot of the cross and called on the Lord Jesus to wash all your sin away?

Going to church won't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Call on Christ today, believing only on Him to save your soul.
