Strangers and Pilgrims

1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Peter is writing to the scattered strangers, the salt God has shaken out over the region. The word stranger means foreigner or alien, which we believers are. Our citizenship is in heaven, but we are ambassadors to this sin riddled world.

Peter says that these aliens have been elected by God, sanctified by the Spirit, washed by the Savior and therefore, recipients of multiplied grace and peace.

How blessed we believers are even as we sojourn through these perilous paths, recruiting others to heavenly citizenship.

Travel in His grace today, while enjoying the peace that is yours.

I'm a pilgrim and a stranger

Wandering through this world of sin

On my way to that fair city

When the saints go marching in.
