Being Cognizant of God

Eccl 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth.

How often do we acknowledge God? I suppose there are those who go through the course of a day without much thought of the sovereign Creator and Sustainer. To others, He is their very life and breath.

Elsewhere, Solomon admonishes: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5, 6.

It is an odd thing that anyone would claim that the Lord resides within their heart and yet live life as an atheist, not acknowledging the Lord in anything.

Paul wrote that we ought to pray without ceasing. That is, we should be in a constant attitude of prayer and fellowship with God.

The person who is in unbroken fellowship with the Lord will understand the power of His presence and trust in His constant and abundant supply. Whereas, the person who does not like to retain God in his knowledge will grope on in his self-reliance, finding over and over again that the arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own.

We are to acknowledge Him as our Creator. That is, He made us and is our rightful Owner and Guide. Not only has He created us, but He also creates the path we are called to travel as well as the end of the journey.

To ignore Him, even momentarily, is to cause ourselves undue worry and grief.

So, remember Him, every moment of every day. Walking with Jesus will provide you strength for the journey.

Holy Creator, we acknowledge you in every moment and for every step of today's journey. Guide and guard our steps. Inspire our thoughts, empower our actions, temper our emotions and aid our speech. When we forget your presence, nudge us and draw us ever closer to you. Remind us of your transcendence in our lives. Keep us on the path you have made for us today. And at the end of the day, let us pillow our heads and nod off with the realization that you are still with us and will be when we awake to another day with you. In Jesus' name, Amen!
