The Maker of Us All

Pro 22:2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

I received three preaching invitations this week. They were in the following countries, India, Kenya and Mexico. Unless the Lord were to do something really special, I won't be able to accept any of the invitations. Were I to go to any of these places, I know I would be met by many very poor people in church and worshiping God.

We have it made here in America. We drive our nice cars on paved roads to nice heated and air conditioned buildings with plush seating. We have loads of personal space as we sit comfortably in Sunday school or in the worship service. The baptisteries are full of warm water. The bulletins are full color. Large screens show the words to the songs and choruses. Power Point presentations keep us focused on the message. Our services are short and concise so as to not keep people too long. Then, we all head home or to an eatery for roast beef, roast pork and roast preacher.

American Christianity! They say that the most segregated hour in America is on Sunday Morning at 11:00.

It would be a blessing if we could go out and win some people to Christ who aren't like us. Whose economic status is quite different, whose skin pigmentation is vastly different. And then, compel them to attend church and sit side by side with us to worship the One Who is the Maker of us all. What a blessing when the rich and poor meet together.
