How we should sing when we worship:

I wonder how many us really sing praises to God with our whole hearts and how often we just go through the motions, filling up that 20 or 25 minutes of a church service dedicated to the music.

Below are 4 requirements of our worship in song as prescribed in Psalm 47.

Let's be sure to praise the great King with the respect and worship that is do Him the next time we meet. He is worthy!!!

    1.  It should involve the whole person body, soul and spirit!
a.     Clap your hands
b.     The entire congregation must be involved
c.      Shout unto God
d.     With the voice of triumph
Psa 47:1  O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2. It should involve our understanding. We cannot sing mindlessly, just mouthing the words, but must consciously acknowledge what we sing.
3. It must be praiseful.
Psa 47:7  For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
4. It must uplift the Lord first and foremost.
Psa 47:9  The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Our Superlative King!

Psalm 45:1  My heart is indicting a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

*My heart is contemplating…
*My lips are conveying…
*My fingers are corresponding…

Here is what they are concluding:

His person is fairest - 2
His grace is greatest - 2
His blessing is lengthiest - 2
His majesty is superior - 3, 4
His victory is severest - 5
His throne is endless - 6, 17
His joy is sweetest - 7
His grandeur is loveliest - 8

Three Wonderful Benefits of Trusting in Him

Ps 36:7  How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 8  They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

When we put our trust in Him...
*We are safely sheltered under His wings
*We are abundantly satisfied with the fatness of His house.
*We are made to drink of the river of His pleasures.

What Manner of Savior Do You Have?

Mar 4:35  And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36  And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38  And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40  And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41  And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

1.   The kind Who will get you to the other side?  35 “Let us pass over unto the other side”
2.   The kind Who rides in the boat with you? 36 “he was in the ship

3.   The kind Who cares if people perish?  38 “Master, carest thou not that we perish?”
4.   The kind Who rises to the occasion?  39 “And he arose”
5.   The kind Who controls your storms?  39 “and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea”
6.    The kind Who speaks peace to your heart? 39  Peace, be still”
